Uncomfortable Read

"What happened to you, Kelly?"

"What does it look like! I was playing with that stupid device of yours and it shrunk me!

I worked! I can't believe the prototype would be that powerful. Kelly, fuming with exhausted anger, stood on my desk before me.

"Why didn't you come when I was shouting for help," I heard her faintly snap.

"I couldn't hear you in my office. It has to do with the size of your lungs now and..."

"Look," she interrupted, "that doesn't matter now. What matters is I'm... tiny! What am I going to do? I had to walk all the way here to get your attention!"

"Look, you look like you need to rest yourself. There's no telling what the process has done to your heart rate or metabolism."

She looked about, near her was a book I had set upon some papers.

"Don't worry," I said softly, "I just need to work our the kinks."

She groaned as she sat down on the book, which now dwarfed her tiny body, "this feels as hard as a rock!"

Even in that moment I as skeptical that I would remedy this problem soon. The sooner I make this size comfortable for her the happier both of us would be.
